Lovina Me, myself and I
'I don't need anyone! I'm just fine by myself! I don't need a stallion to protect me, I can protect myself.' The dark coated mare thought to herself as she walked through the trees, her head down stubbornly. Her dark brown eyes were narrowed just enough to make her soft features look adorably grumpy, like a frustrated child. Suddenly her head was in the air, her finely shaped ears standing to attention as she stared at the flash of movement she had seen in the trees. Her delicate legs shook ever so slightly in apprehension of a threat, but as time passed and nothing happened she calmed down and settled back into her thoughts. 'I can't believe that bastard doesn't think I can survive by myself. I can, I absolutely can! I'm better off without company, since I always upset anyone I'm with.Nnot like my sister. Everyone loves her.'
Her bitter train of thought was the only thing she paid attention to. She did not listen to the sounds in the land around her or watch for dangers. Why should she? No one would miss her if she died, no one would go searching for her if she went missing. 'I really am better off alone.' She thought, miserable. No one will have to worry about pretending to care now I'm gone. They can all dote on my sister now without having to pay any attention to me. Heaving a sigh she focused her thoughts away from the memories of her birth herd and her younger sister Felicia. Her perfect sister Felicia.
The younger mare had perfect conformation, beautiful movement and a sunny, optimistic and slightly naive personality. Everyone loved her and stallions bowed before her dainty feet in attempts to capture her heart. Then there was Lovina. The darker chestnut mare had always been off by herself but never too far from her sister, who she had watched. If a single stallion had made a wrong move the older mare would have been kicking some sense into him and chasing him away from the herd for doing wrong to her sister. Now Lovina was by herself, leaving her sister to her own devices.
Another sigh escaped the mare's nostrils as she thought of how her ditzy sister would survive without her watchful eye. She would probably get her heart broken more times than anyone could keep count of, bear many foals to stallions she did not really love and in the end still be happy with her lot in life. 'She's such an idiot. I hope Grandpa looks after her and he keeps his promise. If he doesn't I'll go back there and teach him to never let me down again.' Her thoughts returned to herd birth herd, a bitter tone entering her mind when she thought about him. Who she meant by him was a handsome stallion who was only a year older than her. The bright eyed stallion held part of her Grandsire's land, yet only had one mare who he treated like a sister instead of a lover. He had often looked after her when she was younger and she loved him hated him. Before she had left she had made him vow to her that he would looked after her little sister and keep her from getting her heart broken too badly. Then she had left, despite him begging her to come back. He had even followed her until she realised he was there and very bluntly told him to return to his mare.
So that was what had happened. He had gone back to his mare, leaving her to disappear just like everyone had always wanted. Now she was alone, happy and independent of any stallion. She needed no one. She wanted no one. Being alone was exactly what she wanted. 'All I need is me, myself and I.'

The wind gently blew across the flat moor. The entire area was incredibly dull and barren, and the sun was just peaking out from behind the hills that laid inbetween the lone stag and his chance at a new life. A gentle snort emitted his black tinged maw, the only way one could tell that he was truly exhausted. There was no sweat beaded on his pelt for he had taken his time enjoying the feeling of being completely and utterly alone. His eyes were clouded with regret though. Many thoughts danced across his mind, in and out through the month that he had wandered far from his home. The place that he was born.
It was true, he had given up his entire kingdom to his two year old son. Of course the older and more experienced Queen could guide him until he made his own decisions, but Raziel still felt intense worry for the kingdom that was left unhinged by his disappearance. At least he he hoped they missed him. It was a selfish thought, yes, but the buckskin knew they would get on fine without him. The large buckskin stallion had no one that he would truly miss. Possibly his son, although they had never made such a bond. Raziel's only regret was leaving without saying goodbye to Ferratilis. But she hated him. 'I'd made too many mistakes with her.'
The stag picked up the pace, trying to leave his thoughts behind him. His dream of Ferratilis as his Queen was long behind him. She had her own destiny to follow. His black forelock swept over his right eye as he began to gallop full speed toward a thick forest. This whole area was new to him, but he could smell the fear scent. It was dark and terribly gloomy looking, although apples hung from the trees like glorious prizes to be won. But Raziel felt no need to eat from this evil looking place. He had no idea what would happen, and the horrors of his past home had been never ending. This could very well be the same.
Raziel weaved his way around tree after tree until the scent of a mare, by herself, caught his nostrils. His old personality hadn't seemed to have died because his first instinct was to take her as his own. Raziel hesitated though, the dark emotions clouding him. His son had been an accident, conceived when Raziel's anger and jealousy exploded. When Ferratilis found out... they could no longer even go on as friends. 'Why did she get to prance around the stallions and I wait on her?' The buckskin snarled to himself, struggling to keep his composure. The stag had to stop himself, though. He couldn't create another Cortez.
Swiftly following the mare's scent, he slackened his pace into an easy-going trot. No need to scare her. Raziel first saw her through the trees, the light filtering through the trees onto her beautiful chestnut hide. "It's nice to find another equine like myself. It seems I've been alone for months." He greeted warmly. "I don't meean to disturb you but this is a rather dangerous place for a mare to be alone." Raziel commented.
